This month you will get some easy/obvious ways in which you can make life easier for yourself. Our brain gets information from all 5 senses throughout the day, but it does not process every impulse from the world around us. When feeling stressed it makes it even more difficult for the brain to process information. This may lead to concentration problems, memory problems, fogginess, memory difficulties and more. The following are simple practice tips that could help you:
Concentrate on one task at a time and if it is too much for you, then break it down to simple and manageable tasks. Carry these small task out at a time of the day in which you have the most energy. You can spread it throughout the week. Limit your stimulations and anything that will redirect your attention. For example, turn off your e-mail pop ups; put your phone on silent mode; sit alone in a room; use ear plugs if you still get distracted by your surroundings. If colleagues keep interrupting you, set boundaries and tell them when you will be available to help them.
If you keep your things at the same place then you do not need to keep remembering where you left something! For some people a tidy desk or house gives a peaceful mind. If that applies to you then keep it also tidy.
Write down things you need to remember, make lists and use reminders on the phone. For passwords you can use a password manager. You can always ask a friend or you partner to remind you as well. That way you will feel more secure and can let it go for a while and not keep stressing over remembering it.
Set certain times in a day in which you check your inbox. This way you will not get distracted by the content of the email. Limit social media to certain time a day, especially when you have the tendency to procrastinate or social compare yourself to others. Social media is a stressor for you that should be limited. If you take direct action, you will not need to remember to do things. For example, pay a bill directly. Plan in your agenda a certain day and time for tasks(e.g. paying bills every last day of the month after lunch) or routine(medication same time every day e.g. always before breakfast) in which it reserves only for that activity. This way routines will help your memory and strength a sense of ease and rest.
Think about these simplistic practical tips and maybe find your own tricks which suite you and your life style.
