December 2019
The month of December is also the month when we start thinking about the next year and what we want to achieve. This exercise will help you get to your goal a little easier.
The factors that are not within your control are still influential on your goal achievement.
There are many factors that play a role and can influence your goal achievement. Some are within your control such as your behavior, decisions, attitude, appraisals and some are not, like other people’s reactions, preferences and motivation to collaborate or participate (e.g. career goals), genetics, hormones, body’s reaction (e.g. in weight loss) etc.
The factors that are not within your control are still influential on your goal achievement. Not taking into account the factors, which are out of your control, will slow you down or inhibit you. It can lead to loss of motivation, energy and raise anger and frustrations levels when you do not achieved the goal completely and/or according to your time planning.
Make a list of all the factors involved (intern and extern) and make a conscious choice to focus on what you can control. Furthermore, choose to focus on the process, your journey not the end result.
If you focus on the journey and on your actions/ efforts to achieve the progress at each step that you come closer to your goal, then you will feel more motivated to keep perusing that goal. You will also feel more in control and confident in all that you can do.
Acknowledge and celebrate each progress, win, improvement and small achievement. Enjoying and rejoicing in the journey will boost your motivations and endurance too. How are you planning to reward your progress?
